Here’s to day 3!


I have felt genuine contentment for the first time in a long time. I realized today that I cannot change the past, make the future happen, or spend today obsessing over tomorrow. By doing so I’m missing out on the peace that is in store for me today. Phillipians 4:6-7 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace that transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Yesterday we went for a walk/run with my sister and her husband. It was our second day of our commitment to excercise and it was a perfect evening. I experienced so much pride watching our son, Lucas, chase the dogs and kick the soccer ball. His little imitations of us make me smile so much. He was so proud of himself for kicking the ball like Uncle Pat and running like Daddy. He wants to show Aunt Jenni absolutely everything and her approval brings him so much joy and happiness. Watching him grow and develop is one of my greatest joys each day. After our walk we grabbed some frozen yogurt and Lucas fed the “fishies” in the pond. Being close enough to spend time with them is such a blessing.

Referenced in my devotional on contentment today was this passage, “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” Phillipians 4:8.

I thought it especially fitting that I feature Jenni today. Her new jewelry line “Whatever May be Lovely” and blog is based around this exact scripture. Her encouragement, friendship, and generosity have been a special blessing to me recently and I truly value and cherish her friendship.

 Alright Day 2!
I spent some much needed time perusing a few of my favorite daily devotionals today. I wasn’t sure what in particular I was looking for, but this is the idea I seem to have “stumbled” upon today.
Courage- “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love.” 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
To be on guard we must be standing on a firm foundation, standing on a firm foundation takes a great deal of courage, in order to be courageous we have to be strong in mind and heart.
What is courage and bravery without love? It takes loving something a great deal in order to have any desire to guard it, stand firm for it, and courageously fight for it. What are you courageous about? What have you stood for today?

Day 1 here I come!

I’m dreaming BIG and taking a giant leap of faith…

A beautiful friend of mine reminded me of this verse “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7. I’m choosing to have faith in myself, and faith in the ONE who gave me this creativity, that I can succeed at doing exactly what I love to do- dreaming big and creating jewelry.

I’m choosing to overcome my timidity and pursue my desire to turn my hobby into a business, in the hope that I might earn something that resembles an income. I do not have a specific number in my head, only the desire to see some fruit come of my labors.

I’m tapping in to my spirit of power to pursue this dream. I know that I have the power to do this the right way: business licenses, tax requirements, etc. I have felt a tug on my heart telling me that if I desire for my business to be successful I need to be doing this with integrity and honesty: even when that means sending hard earned income to Uncle Sam!

I’m choosing to use my spirit of love to use this gift for Him. I have every bit of faith that I can demonstrate love through making jewelry. Silly as it sounds, I know I can touch people through my designs. Using scripture in my item listings, sending notes of encouragement with each shipment, having conversations, participating in groups, giving my designs as gifts, and being an example to everyone I meet using everything I create.

I’m working hard on my self-discipline. Discipline to manage my time effectively in order for me to give the most of myself to my commitments: to my Creator, my family, my education, myself, and my business- in that order. I’m using discipline to spend time in the Word each day, in order to gain knowledge, understanding, love, and peace; so that I might be an example to those around me. Discipline to tithe of my earnings, because this gift of creativity is not self-made but God given and everything I have is from Him and for Him.

I’m not exactly sure how to make all of this happen. But I believe that I can do this…. “For God did not give ME a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7.
